In the Spring of 2019, the AACC hosted its first Asian Awards Night celebrating and honoring outstanding student leaders and affiliate student organizations for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to furthering the mission and vision of the AACC. Here are a list of the award catagories:
First-Year Student Award - Recognizes outstanding first-year students who have made a splash within the AACC community. Courage, audacity, and initiative are all characteristics of these outstanding members that have shone from the start.
Outstanding New Member Award - Recognizes new members of an AACC affiliate organization who have demonstrated outstanding commitment, initiative, leadership, and made meaningful contributions to furthering their affiliate organization’s purpose.
Rising New Student Organization Award - Recognizes new AACC affiliate organizations that have demonstrated an immense potential for growth and a strong commitment to furthering the mission and vision of the AACC.
Graduate and Professional Student Award - Recognizes graduate/professional students who have demonstrated clear commitment and community engagement to the Asian and Asian American G&P community at Yale.
Collaboration Award - Recognizes Yale students or AACC affiliate organizations that have demonstrated outstanding creativity and a commitment to develop and promote programming jointly created with other organizations both within and beyond the Asian and Asian American community.
Community Engagement Award - Recognizes Yale students or AACC affiliate organizations that have demonstrated notable commitment to community engagement activities such as volunteerism, community-based learning, outreach, partnerships, curricular engagement or research.
Yale College Award - Recognizes Yale undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to building pan-Asian American unity, solidarity across communities of color, and leadership in furthering the mission and vision of the AACC.
Exemplary Social Justice Contribution Award - Recognizes a Yale student or an AACC affiliate organization that has demonstrated outstanding work in fostering equity, social justice education, action and exemplifies the qualities of a positive change agent in our community.
Program of the Year Award - Recognizes student-led programs that have demonstrated outstanding community building capacity among students, staff, faculty, and/or the greater New Haven community.
