Peer Liaisons

Peer Liaisons (PLs) are upper-level students at Yale College who help connect first-years to the wealth of support and programming based in the LGBTQ Resource Center, the University Chaplain’s Office, the Office of International Students and Scholars, the Afro-American Cultural Center, the Asian American Cultural Center, the La Casa Latino Cultural Center, and the Native American Cultural Center. Each PL program is run differently, but all are designed to help first-years feel supported and integrated into the Yale College community.

Pronouns: he/him

Hometown: Cupertino, CA

Major: Economics?

Quarantine hobby? Watching, playing, and talking basketball

Favorite spot on campus? Any place with good mission burritos and secure WiFi connection for me to watch Succession or a basketball game.

Hello everyone! My name is Aarjav Joshi and I am a JE sophomore from the Bay Area, serving as your Pierson PL! I’m looking to major in economics for a career in urban policy, and outside of class I’m fortunate to write with our humor magazine, The Record, and work with New Haven’s Office of Homelessness. Other than that, I like to open Atlantic articles in new tabs but never read them, employ semicolons and em-dashes in text messages, abuse the hints on crossword puzzles, obsess over Warriors basketball, spend time outside before the allergies kick in and promote the use of the Oxford comma. All that aside, I’m very fortunate to be working with the AACC this year – this organization and its PLs were instrumental in helping me relax and feel welcome amidst freshman burnout. Please reach out – I’d love to talk, especially over food!

I’m always down to try something new and would love to talk to you about my experiences so far (my pandemic hobby is roller skating— anyone wanna come to a roll out with me?). Everything you’re feeling is valid, but please do not stress yourself out trying to plan out everything prior to starting college. (that’s what I did). There is beauty in not knowing and just allowing things to happen.
