Event description:
As we celebrate 2019 Pan Asian American Heritage Month at Yale, it is safe to say the term 'Asian American' means a lot of things to a lot of people. In this special workshop led by Abdul-Rehman Malik, award winning journalist, educator and cultural organizer – through storytelling circles and utilizing the tools of the Theater of the Oppressed – we will explore not only what it means to be Asian American and a U.S. citizen but how we can find the threads which bind us together. We will also try to find the stories and narratives that activate us and make us committed to creating positive change, not only for own communities, but for the common good.
